One such organization is American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), which has been established to certify companies on quality fabrication of pressure vessels and other equipment.

4 Steps to Qualifying for an ASME Weld Certification for Pressure Vessels:

  1. Acquire Relevant Information
    Prior to applying for the ASME certificate, it is important to gather all the relevant information. You can purchase books regarding the same. Most information is also available on the official website of ASME. After getting a detailed idea of the work that is required, you can choose to go ahead with the application process or not. It will also give you a good idea of the manpower and raw materials needed. Check if this fits in your budget.
  2. Preparing the Quality Manual
    The next step is to prepare the quality manual. This manual forms the guideline for the processes and quality measures employed by you during the fabrication of pressure vessels. ASME associated professionals will check the consistency between the quality manual and the fabrication quality of the vessel. Hence, the quality manual has to be incredibly thorough. It also has to be in-line with the processes employed at the fabrication unit as well as the codes dictated by ASME.
  3. Application Process
    Organizations will need to apply for the certificate on the official ASME website. You will also need to pay the fees at this point.
  4. Undergoing the Survey
    Post application, a survey date will be provided. An ASME professional will visit your factory and conduct a survey. Here, the manual and the product will be jointly scrutinized to ensure that all quality procedures are in place.
